MISS JULIE

ADAPTED BY GRANT SORENSON
FROM STRINDBERG

My adaptation of Strindberg's Miss Julie was developed in part at Everwood Farmstead's Artist Retreat in 2019. This weeklong solo residency gave me the space to explore this play and my version of it in a truly magical, natural landscape.

Everwood Farmstead was planning to host a production of the play in Summer 2020, but Covid-19 forced us to change our plans. Instead, they graciously made a streamable reading of the play available.

The actors involved were Meghan Kreidler (Julie), Michael Weiser (Jan), and Kate Beahen (Kirsten). EJ Hanson was our production assistant. Prior to the Everwood reading, the play had a developmental reading in Minneapolis featuring Miriam Schwartz (Julie), Dustin Bronson (Jan), and Hope Cervantes (Kirsten). Jo Holcomb has been the dramaturg on the project since its inception.

A huge thank you to Chris Everett and Bill Underwood, who run Everwood Farmstead, for their continued support of this play, my work, and the arts in general.
